To make a living, Tery Dizon sells personal home products (plastic ware) such as lunch boxes, pails, basins, etc., in her community. She is 32 years old, married and has four school-age children. They are from the village of Poblacion, Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental. Tery has been in this business for over four years and earns approximately 3,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) a month. In 2010, Tery joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living conditions and enable her to engage in business activities. Tery is requesting a loan of 5,000 PHP which will be used to purchase additional products to sell. This will be her first loan from GDMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue to supplement her family's income. Tery is the leader of a two member group accessing a loan offered by GDMPC. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are both responsible for paying back the loan of their fellow group member if she is delinquent or defaults. The official name of this borrowing group is "Pineapple 1". About GDMPC: GDMPC is one of the most progressive cooperatives in Mindanao, Philippines. It has four branches and three unit offices covering the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental. Its membership is composed mostly of farmers, fisherfolks and small entrepreneurs.
